Thank You Cards

What a busy weekend!  I dear friend contacted me this week about doing some Wedding Invitations and Thank You cards for her daughter, who is getting married next month.  I was so honored that she thought about me and wanted me to make these. 

I spoke to the Bride-to-be yesterday to figure out colors and to get some information from her.  We talked about what type of cards that she would like and she said just something simply.  Today, I am sharing the Thank You card design.  I really had a lot of fun making these, but I recruited Lauren (one of my Design Team Members) to help.  THANK YOU Lauren for helping with this project!

Scrapbook Ideas

Did I mention that I am excited that May is National Scrapbooking month?  If you have ready my posts this past week, you already know that answer to that...YES!  My mind has been going none stop thinking of ideas and reasons to scrapbook.  Have you wondered why someone would want to scrapbook, or what type of scrapbook to make? 

I bet that some of you when you think of a scrapbook think of a 12 x 12, 8-1/2 x 11, or a 6 x 6 binder.  Yes, these are the more typical sizes, but there are so many different sizes, different styles, and shapes of scrapbooks, or we could even say memory keepers.  I will not let all my secrets out right now, but I plan on share many different ideas with you over the next few months (or longer). 

One thing I do want to share, and I hope it will get your mind going on ideas, is a list of scrapbooking ideas.  I would love for you to share your ideas with us, and you can do that by leaving a comment.

First of all, I think most of us think about the typical themes for scrapbooks (wedding, baby shower, birthday, holiday), but here are some maybe not so common ideas.  Just keep in mind, when it boils down to it, scrapbooking is about preserving memories.

1.  How about a recipe book with your favorite recipes and pictures to go with.  Along the same lines, do you have Grandma's secret cookie recipe?  Maybe you have a picture of you helping make those cookies.  Add a couple of sentences of some found memories of eating those cookies.

2.  What about a scrapbook Birthday party.  Let's say you have a Sweet Sixteen birthday coming up in your family.  Have all her friends help out making a scrapbook of the event.  Take a group photo and get multiple copies made, and have each on make a page for themselves too.

3. The husband of a good friend smokes cigars, and for those of you that don't know, most (if not all) cigars comes with a ring around it which is like a label or their trademark.  Well, he would like her to do something with the rings to keep them, so she is going to make a cigar ring scrapbook for him.

4. Scrapbooks are also a great gift idea. What a neat idea to give someone that is going on a trip or just returned from a trip as travel scrapbook.

5. How about a hand-stamped card scrapbook.  Make a scrapbook of your favorite cards that you have received.

Scrapbook Class Idea

I am excited that May is National Scrapbook month.  I  was talking to one of my demo friends the other night about different scrapbooking classes that we could offer and where to find different page layouts.  All of the sudden I remembered that I made a scrapbook with my upline group right after I became a demonstrator.  This is a great idea for a class.  If you like what you see here, keep watching my blog for further updates regarding classes starting in May.

 

TEMPTING TECHNIQUES ~ Metal Stamping

Check out this cool technique!  Metal Stamping!  Thank you Lynn for the opportunity to post this to Jill's Stamping Corner today.

Items that you will need to create this technique:

• soda can, empty and rinsec
• Scissors
• Stazon Ink
• card stock and other normal stamping supplies

Step One:

First, going in through the opening in the top of the can, cut down toward the side so that you will be able to get your scissors in and cut the top off of the can. Then, cut down one side and cut off the bottom as well.

Step Two:

Flattened the sheet out as much as possible without crinkling it. The sheet tends to remain in it's curved shape even after cutting, so choose the flattest section on which to stamp your image using Stazon Ink. Heat set the image, but be careful as the metal will heat up from using a heat gun. You could also just let the ink dry for a while, but you will have to be patient. After cooling, cut out the image and embellished at will.

This is what Lynn did for her card. 

"I used several glue dots to attach my metal to my card, although I'm sure a glue suitable for metal would work just as well...I was just impatient and wanted instant results. To add color to your image, you can use any color medium that will adhere to a non-porous surface."

Stamping Basics ~ Stampin' Up! Ink part 6

Did you know that you could do some much with Stampin' Up! ink?  Many of you may be happy that this is the last post about ink, but if you have any other ideas that I have not mentioned in the past 7 weeks e-mail me and I will add your idea to the list of things that you can do with ink.  I hope you have enjoyed learning about ink, but next week we will move on to something new.

QUESTION:  Ink ~ Can pigment ink be used on fabric?

ANSWER:  It can be used on fabric, but the color will not be as vibrant as used on paper, and it will fade slightly after heat-setting.  This is true for Stampin' Up! pads as well as other in the retail market.  A trick that you can try to achive a more vibrant image, stamp it twice. The Stamp-a-ma-jib would be great to use for this to make sure you stamp the second time perfectly over the first image.  

Things you should remember when doing fabric stamping:

• Make sure you prewash the fabric.
• For best results, use a tighly woven and smooth-finished fabrics.
• ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS, test a small area of the fabric first.
• Immediately heat-set after stamping.
• You may wash as normal or hand wash, but it would be best to dry by air or line dry.

Re-ink your pad frequently for best results. 

Free Stampin' Up! Light Table

I was really having a hard time figuring out what I was going to post today.  We had company over the weekend so the regular weekend stuff (laundry, etc.) did not get done and I have been working a little each evening trying to get caught up on that.

WOOHOOOOOOOO!!!! A FREE Stampin' Up! Light Table.  No, I am not giving one a way...I wish I could.  But Mr. Brown stopped by my house today with my box.  Well, I guess it was really not totally free, I had to work hard during Sale-A-Bration to get it. Not only did I reach my sales goal to promote to Supervisor, but I also had someone join my team during SAB.  Anyway, I received a $50 gift card from Stampin' Up! for my achivement...yeah me!  I have wanted to get one of the SU! Light Table for dry embossing for a while, but just never have purchased it...THANK YOU SU! for my new toy.  I can't wait to play with it.

So I will have to post something soon from using my new table.

 

UDI Card Sketch

Designing Divas Club Meeting

Today is my Designing Divas Club Meeting and this is a peek at the cards that we will be making today. "Thank You" cards are always good to have on hand, and I wanted to show one of the Occasions Mini Catalog sets.  If you saw my post yesterday, this will also show how Stampin' Up! coordinates products.  We are only using 3 stamp sets today, but you will notice that we are using 2 sets on each card.

"I am not a crafty person" commen statement.

Scrapbooking with Stampin' Up

Wow, today almost got by me with out a post, but I made it just in time.

I posted the other day that I will be starting a scrapbook class in May to celebrate National Scrapbooking month.  I wanted to share some information with you regarding scrapbooking.  Did you know that Scrapbooking is a large part of the crafting industry?  Did you also know that Stampin' Up! has many products that were created specifically for scrapbooking?  SU! created simply scrappin'to help make scrapbooking easy and fun.  Each simply scrappin' kit coordinates with, of course, the SU! colors, but also specific stamp sets.  Take a look at the current kits which start on page 162 of the Spring~Summer 2009 Idea Book Catalog.
